This is an interesting question. At the Clarke conference, a colleague suggested having students express their thoughts aloud on some type of recording device. I also think that drawing or some kind of visual graphics can help those students who are not able to physically write. Everyone has stories to tell--both fiction and nonfiction--and we should try to be open to alternative ways for those stories to be told.
